# Migration at the end of a Financial Period

Our recommended approach for migrating data from a legacy ERP to Biz-Flo at the end of a financial year is as follows:

1. Timing: Ideally, the migration should take place at the end of a financial period. This allows for a smooth transition, as you can start recording transactions for the new financial period from its first day. However, please note that the closing data of the ending financial year/period may not be available until a week or two into the new year.
2. Validation: Before migrating the closing balance of asset, liability, and equity accounts into Biz-Flo, it is essential to validate them. Ensure that the amounts of total outstanding invoices are reconciled with their respective accounts in the general ledger.
